Baptisms at St. John's

At St. John's Church, Baptism is celebrated as the sacrament of new birth, appropriately shared with infants and children as well as adult converts and new believers. If you have already been baptized in another Christian tradition, then it is unnecessary to repeat the rite. As a sacrament of initiation, Baptism endows a new life in the Spirit, and though that new life demands continuing cultivation and breeds ongoing conversion, we believe that that new life has begun for us, and in us, already.

Because Baptism is so important to our faith, we do not hesitate to administer the sacrament to those who seek it, but not without first preparing the candidate or the candidate’s family and godparents with appropriate instruction and support.
