Teen Education

Our teenagers are invited to take leadership roles in the drama program at St John’s (see Children's Education page), to continue to discover and exercise their gifts—on-stage, back-stage, and otherwise.  On those Sundays when the Drama group is not meeting, teens are encouraged to join the adults in the Parish Library (see Adult Education page) for film-based discussions of faith and life.

This year, we are also offering our teens a monthly immersion experience in urban ministry and service. On the third Tuesday of each month, our youth will cook, serve and share an evening meal at Damien House, a local ecumenical drop-in center for those affected by HIV/AIDS. Shared with other members of the St. Francis Fellowship (St. Anthony’s and St. Paul’s churches in Troy), these experiences will enjoy adult support and supervision, followed by thoughtful debriefing conversations.

For more information, talk to Katie Brillat (kbrillat@stjohnstroy.org), or Fr. Steve (sschlossberg@stjohnstroy.org).
