Bartow, Constance SPEIGLETOWN Constance Taylor Bartow, 92, formerly of Sunset Lane, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, October 17, 1915, to Nellie and George Taylor, she moved to Troy with her family in 1930. She was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School, class of 1934 and attended St. Lawrence University. She was predeceased by her husband Douglass L. Bartow. Constance was a prominent local artist whose paintings and quillings warm hundreds of homes. She was employed for a number of years at the Lloyd Studio in Troy. For over 60 years, Constance was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Troy, having been a member of the church choir, couples club and altar guild. Recently she returned to Trinity Episcopal Church in Lansingburgh, which was the church of her youth. She was born near and maintained a love of the ocean. Too, she was especially fond of the Adirondack Mountains and visited there often. Many of her paintings were scenes from the Adirondack region. She is survived by her children, Douglas Bartow Jr. and his wife Mary Ellen of Newcomb and Fayetteville, Linda van Kessel and her husband Ted of Millbrook and Jonathan Bartow and his wife Kathleen of Slingerlands; her siblings, Muriel Leak of Avon, Conn., George Taylor and his wife Marcelle of Ravena and Harold Taylor and his wife Joan of Voorheesville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 4th Ave. and 115th St., Lansingburgh. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.
