Obituary

George Peck Ide, III

Queensbury - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Peck Ide III, 89, who died Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at The Pines at Glens Falls after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late George P. Ide, Jr. and Kathryn Gordinier Ide, and married for 59 years to Anne Thomas Ide. He had lived in the Troy area most of his life, but has resided in Saratoga Springs. He earned his engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After college, George enlisted in the US Army and served for 2 years.

George had a warm smile, a kind heart, and an unwavering dedication to those he loved. His presence lit up every room, and his stories, advice, and sense of humor will be remembered by all who loved him.

We are grateful for the time we had with him and the love he gave so freely. Nothing brought him more joy than being with his family.

He was President and Partner of Burch Bottle and Packaging for 53 years.

He was a long-time member of the Country Club of Troy. He lived a life centered around love, laughter, and togetherness. He had a gift that is all too rare: the ability to be present.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Anne, include his son, George P. (Cynthia) Ide, IV, and daughter, Betsey (Bob) Sullivan, and his 6 grandchildren, Madeline, Aubrey, and Sarah Ide, and Katie, Allie, and Molly Sullivan; and his sister, Kay (Ted) Mellor. He was predeceased by his sister, Patty Williams.

Funeral service will be held Friday, May 30, 2025 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 146 First Street, Troy at 11AM with Rev. Judith Malionek, Mother, officiating.

Interment will be in  Oakwood Cemetery, Troy, directly following the service.
