Ted Phillips, 74, died Thursday, September 12, 2024, at his residence after a long illness.
Born in Miami, Fla., he had resided in Colonie for over 30 years. Ted was a graduate of Miami-Dade College with an AA in music. He also graduated from Florida State University with a BA in Mathematics.
Ted was employed as an Analyst and Technical Specialist for Xerox Corporation covering the Northeast for 30 years, retired.
He was the church organist and choirmaster for St. John's Episcopal Church in Troy for 20 years, recently retired.
Ted was predeceased by his parents, Jean C Obenchain (Coffin) and Ted Obenchain Sr. Survived by a half brother, Robert Riefer (Lisa Riefer-spouse)
Ted was highly respected in both of his careers and was missed at Xerox and was loved and will be missed by his St. John's family Especially Rector Rev. Judith Malionek and the entire choir.
He will be especially missed by his close friends the Oertel Family and friends at Xerox including supervisor Wayne Palka.
Ted had a serious love for music and cats which he demonstrated often. He was charitable to a fault and supported many causes, family and private throughout his life
Colleagues and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 11 a.m., at St. John's Episcopal Church, 146 First Street, Troy, with Rev. Judith Malionek, Rector, officiating, with a social following the service.
